I was in Kailua taking care of some errands and then taking pictures of my little bird buddies in the Hamakua Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary when I saw a food truck. It was already well into the afternoon so my lunch plans were already shot. I stopped by. It was Leilani’s Island Tacos. I spoke with the woman who I presume was Leilani and ordered the Thai Chicken Taco. I was really impressed. The portions were great for $10. The flavor… well, it had a lot of Thai elements but it did not taste like a Thai style chicken. It had the look of pad thai, it had a lot fo elements but it was not Thai food. It was good. And the bites got better as the heat started to seep in. Not a really bad, nasty heat, but a midly pleasant heat. The vegetables were nice and this was, for me, the biggest thing that I liked. I wish it had some pad thai elements though. I would have loved some bean sprouts in there! I really enoyed it. It was also delightfully messy so another plus! I would definitely go back!
