A lot of things have changed in the past few months… and yet not much has. It’s been essentially a whirlwind of months of activity with what felt like little forward progress. Since December, I’ve been working an incredible amount… bouncing between my job, the Hawaiian Entomological Society and finally the Ahahui Malama i ka Lokahi. And occassionally a class or two. The main after work time suck is gone now. The XV Pacific Entomology Conference is over and done with and I can’t be happier. I thought it went well, but, you know, I’m biased. Chef James of the Hilton Waikīkī Beach Hotel did a wonderful job and made sure my menu selections were incredible. He even made a special dessert for our banquet. Speaking of, to commerate our 100th Anniversary, we gave the Lifetime Achievement Award to Frank Howarth. I could not have planned it better— except of course for the fact that I had no hand in it! I even came away with an award myself, Service to the Society. I really did not want to receive an award, Iʻm still new at things and I rely so much on my predecessor, but still it is greatly appreciated. I actually decided to spend the weekend NOT WORKING.
Now on to the next set of challenges!
